Building Bridges with Culture and Creativity
Culture is a glue that binds us and cultural events offer creative ways that people can develop personally and professionally.
People-centered cultural programs allow communities to build capacity and emotional resilience. Cultural Events also act as a catalyst for diplomacy. I have worked with many community groups - from remote Aboriginal communities in Central Australia, to senior citizens in Brisbane, to Australian Women in New York - to create short and long term initiatives that facilitate creativity, education, development and knowledge sharing.
My research in this area has focused on youth arts in remote Australia, artistic collaborations and culture shock. I have presented at the International Symposium on Cultural Diplomacy in the UN; Zone 126 GradNation in New York and Creative Communities Conference: Risks and Possibilities, Griffith Centre for Cultural Research in Australia; and on my blog ‘Unsealed Roads.’
