Weekly Video Project
Started during Covid-19 lock down in NYC, I made a year-long commitment to creating weekly videos. Initially, they were responses to my memory writing project, however, they morphed into current-day reflections and experimentations with narrative, embodiment and video and then back again.
Questions arose: How can I see differently? The route I walk every day, the walls I stare at, the pigeons, the cat. And outside, in public spaces, how can/do I take up space? What is this fear I feel? How do I hold my ground when out in the world?
The process of making the videos, the questions that arose, were as much the practice as was exploring my craft.
Underlying the philosophy of this process is a conversation between thought/feeling/sense and material (body, environment, video, editing), and its DIY nature. Everything is done on the phone, and it is imperative to me to not think too much about it. As such, these videos are imperfect. I hope you enjoy them.
